San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), one of Southern California’s largest locally-owned financial institutions, is proud to announce that SDCCU Call Center Senior Vice President, Sheena Peoples was named one of SD Metro Magazine’s top 40 Under 40. The award recognizes some of the best and brightest minds making a positive difference in the San Diego community.
Peoples was selected in part for her commitment to excellence which includes her part in the rollout and launch of new technology such as SDCCU’s revamped Touch Tone Teller system and new online banking platform in late 2019. She also helped lead an initiative to improve customer service across the credit union through the implementation of dashboards and systems which offer real-time data, allowing for greater insight into activity and increased team synergy. Overseeing more than 100 employees in 2 states, Peoples is responsible for handling the constant disruptors impacting her department while maintaining exceptional customer service.
“We are incredibly proud of Sheena for this well-deserved recognition,” said Teresa Campbell, SDCCU President and CEO. “In the time Sheena has been with SDCCU, she has led tremendous change through her commitment and dedication to delivering exceptional service. There is no question, the credit union would not be as successful as it is today without her, we truly value her leadership.”
Peoples’ path has boded well for her as she has experienced many achievements over the course of her career. She has risen in the ranks within the call center and leadership within the credit union: from 2005 being hired as a Member Service Supervisor, promoted to Assistant Manager in 2013, then again to Call Center Manager in 2014, followed by Vice President in 2015, and in 2020 elevating to Senior Vice President.
Peoples won SDCCU’s President’s Service Award in 2011, which recognizes individuals who go above and beyond in their day to day activities. The call center was given the first-ever Inspiration Award in 2018 for her leadership in managing the call center. And in 2019, the call center won the Department Excellence Award and Sheena won the Feel the Teal Award, which is SDCCU’s highest annual honor given to an individual who embraces SDCCU’s Feel the Teal philosophy. Feel the Teal is SDCCU’s sense of pride and passion for our brand, our work and our community.
