Alliant Credit Union, a nationwide digital credit union and one of the 10 largest credit unions in the U.S., today announced the extension of its savings plan with personal finance expert and podcast host Suze Orman called The Ultimate Opportunity Savings Account. The account is designed to get people into the habit of saving and reward them for doing so with a $100 bonus.
“At Alliant, we know there are millions of savvy savers out there that deserve some encouragement as they build a healthy financial future,” said Dennis Devine, CEO of Alliant. “Too often we only associate rewards with spending, but it’s time we changed that. Alliant will make 2021 the year of rewarding savings. We’ll go all out for our members’ success.”
The account promotion extension to Dec. 31, 2021, comes after a very successful campaign. In the three months since Alliant and Orman announced the savings plan, more than 13,000 people opened The Ultimate Opportunity Savings Account.
Once people open their new high-rate savings account and deposit at least $100 a month for 12 consecutive months, Alliant will deposit a $100 bonus if it has a balance of at least $1,200.
“I chose Alliant for The Ultimate Opportunity Savings Account because they provide the best savings account on the market today,” said Orman. “There’s a reason why they’re an award-winning credit union and I am thrilled to provide The Ultimate Opportunity Savings Account throughout 2021. We’ve proven that people want to be paid to save. For those people who had to use their emergency funds over the past year, now is the time to start over again.”
Typically, to earn $100 in a high-rate savings account, accountholders would need to have over $18,000 in their account for 12 months.
“These new members aren’t just getting a savings bonus. They’re joining a digital credit union that can maximize their money in ways banks can’t,” said Devine. “We don’t have shareholders – our members are our owners – and we measure our success by what we give back to our members. We have some of the highest deposit rates in the industry and we’ll continue to provide award-winning online and mobile banking experiences.”
As part of the extension, Alliant will continue to sponsor Orman’s Women & Money (and the Men Smart Enough to Listen).
