ELGA Credit Union (ELGA) celebrated Children’s Hospital Week (April 19-25) by raising funds to benefit Hurley Children’s Hospital – Flint’s own Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) hospital.
Throughout the month of April, ELGA celebrated Hurley, the children they treat, and the medical heroes working there by raising money to support the hospital and its programs. ELGA associates, along with credit union members, came together and raised $4,659 to benefit the hospital. These funds will support pediatric patients at Hurley – whether they’re fighting cancer or spending their first days of life in the NICU. ELGA associates shared their personal stories of how Hurley impacted their lives, highlighting just a few reasons why the hospital means so much to the credit union. Additionally, ELGA staff purchased a jeans pass and unique CMN t-shirt to wear, and members showed their support by purchasing an iconic $1 CMN yellow paper balloons that covered the walls of all 14 ELGA branches.
“We are so fortunate to have a CMN hospital right here in our community – one of only four CMN hospitals in Michigan,” said Cheryl Sclater, ELGA Public Relations Manager. “Children’s Miracle Network is the charity of choice for credit unions and our ELGA team is always happy to step up to the plate and support the children at Hurley.”
ELGA, together with other local credit unions, brought awareness to the week long campaign through social media – sharing stories and names of children who’ve been treated at Hurley.
“Together, area credit unions make a difference to Hurley Children’s Hospital,” said Linda Tracy-Stephens, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Director with the Hurley Foundation. “We are so grateful to ELGA Credit Union and the other area credit unions who partnered with
us during Children’s Hospitals Week. Their leadership teams, associates, and members continue to make a difference to the children we serve at Hurley Children’s Hospital. As a national partner of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Credit Unions 4 Kids (CU4KIDS) continue to impact children by raising funds that stay directly in our community. We value the outpouring of support and love for Hurley Children’s Hospital.”
