On Monday, May 3, 2021, the York Chapter of Credit Unions announced the winners of its 2021 scholarship contest: Kathleen Queenan and Ellen Lippy. Both received $1,000 to go towards their first year of schooling.
Kathleen is a member of White Rose Credit Union and a senior at Dallastown Area High School. She will attend college in the fall and pursue a degree in special education. Currently, Kathleen is involved in Unified Track and Unified Bocce, Tennis, and Ski Club, just to name a few. She also participates in Rosie’s class, an after-school program for middle and high school students with special needs.
Ellen Lippy is a member of First Capital Federal Credit Union. She attends Eastern York High School and will head off to Penn State in the fall to pursue a nursing degree. Ellen is very involved in her school and with her community. She is in Student Council, SADD Club, Interact Club, and National Honor Society. And, she volunteers as an assistant youth girl’s lacrosse coach and with her church.
“We are proud to support our Credit Union members by offering these scholarships,” said Debra Kauffman, Chapter President. “We wish both of them success in college.”
The meeting also featured Anna Hartman, who gave her speech titled Full Circle, My Credit Union Journey. Anna is representing the York Chapter of Credit Unions at the Cross State Credit Union Association’s Credit Union Ambassador competition during their annual conference May 12 & 13, 2021.
