Premier Members Credit Union partnered with Eco-Cycle to host its first-ever electronics recycling event. More than 600 members and Premier Members employees participated in the drive, which was held April 17 thru 24 at the credit union’s Arapahoe branch. The event, offered as a perk to members and employees, successfully collected 27,307 pounds to divert from the landfill, which resulted on a greenhouse gas reduction of 41,817 pounds.
“Eco-Cycle is proud to partner with Premier Members Credit Union to assist their members in responsibly managing the end-of-life of their electronics,” said Nick Miranda, Sales Coordinator for Eco-Cycle. “The commitment of Premier Members Credit Union and its members was evident during their recent Earth Week electronics collection with members dropping off over 13 tons of computers, television sets and other hard to recycle electronics. Eco-Cycle and our e-Steward certified e-scrap recycler, Blue Star Recyclers, look forward to continuing to deliver socially and environmentally responsible recycling options to the members of Premier Members Credit Union across Boulder County.”
“This was an unbelievable showing by our members and employees, to turn out in rain, snow and shine over the course of the week and overflow our collection bins each day of the drive,” said Miles Hoffman, Senior Sustainability Specialist for Premier Members Credit Union.
The credit union plans to continue to offer the e-waste and other environmentally focused events annually to its members and employees to coincide with Earth Week.
