Peach State FCU C.A.R.E.S. Foundation pledges $60,000 to the Walton County YMCA initiative

The Peach State FCU C.A.R.E.S. Foundation announced a $60,000 pledge to the newly founded Walton County YMCA over the next 5 years.

The “Building a Healthy Walton” campaign aims to bring a state-of-the-art YMCA facility to Walton County. The steering committee currently has a fundraising goal of $10 million.

Gary Hobbs, Campaign Leadership Council Co-Chair, said “This is one of the most important initiatives we’ve undertaken for our county in many, many years.” The facility has five objectives: (1) to provide a safe venue and community gathering place, (2) health and wellness (including mental health and physical therapy) programs, (3) exercise and fitness facilities, (4) education (including lifeguard training), and (5) recreation and organized sports.

“We are so pleased to be a part of the first YMCA to be established in Walton County,” said C.A.R.E.S. Foundation President, Demitra Houlis. “In celebration of the credit union’s 60th anniversary, the Foundation is honoring our roots through the support of children, educators and school systems throughout our footprint. We look forward to supporting Walton County YMCA as they grow and provide this vital service to our community.”
