Sikorsky Credit Union awarded five $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors who are headed to college this fall.
Sikorsky Credit Union annually awards scholarships to high school seniors that plan on to continue their education after high school. The awarded money will help pay expenses such as tuition costs, books or other school materials. The scholarship is named after Thomas J. Williams, longtime CEO of the Credit Union, who passed away in 2015.
To qualify for the scholarship, students were asked to write an essay sharing the most important money management lesson they learned from Sikorsky Credit Union that will help them manage their finances in college. The essays were reviewed by a committee, and they selected the top five essays for the scholarship recipients.
This year’s Thomas J. Williams Scholarship winners are Dzenita Muhovic of Seymour, Jake Montini Cook of Derby, Matthew Darroch of Oxford, Ava L Williams of Danbury and Emily Berard of Milford.
“Sikorsky Credit Union’s goal is to improve the financial lives of members in the neighborhoods we serve, and it was exciting to see the impact we’ve had on young adults” stated Vincent Ciambriello, President and CEO of Sikorsky Credit Union. “We feel honored to have the opportunity to help these five graduating seniors with their college expenses.”
