Grant Window Now Open for Local Teachers

Local teachers can again apply for up to $500 to assist with classroom projects that positively impact students. “It’s a known fact that teachers and instructional personnel spend significant dollars out of their own pockets each year.
There is a lot of pressure and stress on learning environments right now. Helping to fund creative learning, through our Teacher Grant Program, is one way we can assist and spread some positivity,” shares Jeff Thompson, CEO of Blue Eagle Credit Union.

Each fall, teachers in the greater Roanoke and Lynchburg areas are eligible to apply for a Teacher Grant up to $500 to fund classroom projects. That time is now. Teachers have until October 23, 2022, to apply and recipients will be announced the first week in November. Please see the application for full details and requirements.

“The fact that this grant program has given more than $33,000 in just 6 years to local teachers is fantastic, but the fact that those dollars are fully funded by our staff makes it even more special,” comments Director of Marketing, Laurissa Thompson. Last year, 17 local teachers received a combined $8,370 for classroom projects that impact more
than 3,200 students. Some projects will benefit students in years to come as well, multiplying the positive effect.

Videos of past projects can be viewed on Blue Eagle Credit Union’s YouTube channel. Watch a highlight reel or see individual stories about how the teachers use the funds.
