Christine Linford joins Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union as Chief People Officer

Human Resources executive brings more than 21 years of experience to Credit Union

Christine “Chris” Linford has joined Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union (SLFCU) as Chief People Officer. In her new position, Linford will play a crucial role in shaping the organization’s strategic framework and operational roadmap. She will be responsible for helping foster a “best places to work” environment in the markets SLFCU serves, ensuring employees feel supported and engaged, and have opportunities for professional growth.

“We are excited to welcome Chris to our team,” said Alex De La Cruz, SLFCU executive vice president. “Her background and expertise are a great strategic addition as we continue to advance talent and culture. The role Chris will play and the initiatives she will lead will enable SLFCU to deliver a differentiated experience to our employees and members.”

Linford relocated from Salt Lake City, Utah, to accept the position, explaining, “I am incredibly thrilled to be joining SLFCU, a mission-driven organization deeply committed to serving its members and communities. I am inspired by their dedication to putting their members first and fostering a culture of teamwork. I am eager to contribute to SLFCU’s vision of being an economic engine for the communities they serve in the Southwest and creating an exceptional culture that attracts and retains top talent.”

Among the initiatives in which Linford is already engaged are evaluating SLFCU’s open positions to ensure the organization is competitive in attracting new talent, and its plans for developing and advancing existing employees.

“Like many businesses today, we have open positions. Our goal is to attract the right talent who will join us in seeking to improve themselves and those they work with every day,” Linford said.

Linford’s previous experience includes positions as senior vice president and chief people officer for a Utah-based bank; vice president of human resources for a credit union with more than 100 branch locations in six different states; and senior vice president and director of human resources for a bank in Washington, D.C. She has also served as an employment and human resources consultant.

Linford holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from the University of Maryland, College Park. She earned certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources from the Human Resources Institute. She is a volunteer for Wasatch Adaptive Sports, which encourages individuals with disabilities and their families to realize their potential and engage in active living through recreational, educational, and social programs.
