In honor of International Credit Union Day (ICU Day) on October 19, AMOCO Federal Credit Union dedicated the entire week to celebrating the credit union movement with various events.
International Credit Union Day exists to raise awareness and celebrate what makes credit unions unique: a mission to bring financial inclusion and well-being to people all over the world. Since its inception in 1948, International Credit Union Day has been celebrated through outreach, volunteering, fundraising, and other activities. In 2023, CUNA marked this celebration’s historic 75th anniversary. This milestone offers the unique opportunity to acknowledge the tireless efforts of credit union employees while celebrating members all over the world.
AMOCO kicked off festivities on October 16, starting with a focus on the cooperative spirit. Throughout the day, AMOCO visited and delivered lunches to local credit union peers. Additionally, AMOCO participated in financial education initiatives for members, youth coloring contests, and volunteering at Habitat for Humanity.
The official ICU Day was reserved for a focus on member appreciation. AMOCO hosted an exclusive member-only event at Main Event in Webster, TX. Families were invited to come out and play games, eat good food, and enjoy each other’s company. The event bolstered a record-breaking attendance of over 1,200 AMOCO members! It was a fun way to show AMOCO’s appreciation for its members and all they do to make the credit union great.
While ICU Day only happens once a year, credit unions like AMOCO work all year round to ensure its members and their communities are supported. Whether it’s offering lower rates, providing personalized customer service, or sponsoring local events, credit unions set the stage for what a financial institution should be.
