Eagle Community Credit Union is proud to announce the appointment of Michael Kim as its new President and Chief Executive Officer. With more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, Mr. Kim brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to his new role, positioning Eagle Community Credit Union for continued growth and success.
"Mike’s unique blend of expertise in lending, retail banking, marketing, and business development provides him with a broad perspective essential for leading Eagle Community Credit Union towards a bright future," said Louie Flores, Chairperson of the Board of Directors. "His commitment to the credit union movement and proven track record of success make him the perfect fit for this role."
Mr. Kim joins Eagle Community Credit Union from MyPoint Credit Union, where he served as the Vice President of Lending. Under his leadership, MyPoint Credit Union, transformed its lending function with centralized lending and created a new mortgage department. His focus on process improvements and the member experience created efficiencies for both members and staff alike.
Mr. Kim’s extensive career includes significant roles at several prominent financial institutions. As the Chief Lending Officer at First Entertainment Credit Union, he contributed to the growth of the institution, which now boasts $2 billion in assets. His tenure at Citibank as Senior Vice President/Director of Product Management, as well as various executive roles at USC Credit Union—including Chief Lending Officer, Chief Marketing Officer, and President/CEO of its wholly-owned CUSO, Education Loan Resources—further exemplifies his diverse expertise.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Kim has played a significant role in advancing the credit union movement. He was appointed to the Negotiated Rulemaking Committee in Washington, DC, to reauthorize the Higher Education Act of 1965. His involvement ensured that key legislative language addressing credit union concerns was incorporated into the final regulation.
Mr. Kim holds a Bachelor’s Degree and MBA from the University of Southern California. He has also earned the Credit Union Business Lending Certification from the Credit Union National Association (CUNA).
