A marriage made in heaven – Company culture and human resources

Why are Corporate Culture and Human Resources imperative to marry?  Here’s a glimpse into our thought process.  Our brand is communicated by our 4 core values: mind blowing customer service, integrity, determination and positive attitude.

When making day to day decisions, each of our team members use these four values as a guide.  But company culture isn’t just a result from upper management passing it down to the employees.  It’s made up of the work and values of each of your employees.  It’s imperative to your culture that you hire employees who then understand and exemplify your values while reinforcing the mission and vision to create a tighter team. Think of each of your team members as your brand ambassadors.

When our management team heads into an interview, we navigate through questions to gauge each of our applicants in our particular four core values.  A good tip of how to do this is to ask behavior-based interview questions.  That way, it will solicit information about how they have handled situations in the past.  You can then decipher if their past behavior and decisions align with your values and culture.

It’s a good idea to communicate your core values to each of your candidates in the initial interview.  Share examples of how your values are put into action everyday with your team.  You’ll be amazed at how hiring team members that positively contribute to your culture will foster an incredible work environment.
