Advocacy wins in 2022

Credit unions did big things in 2022. We made progress on many longstanding priorities and laid the groundwork for further wins in the next Congress, all while continuing to promote financial well-being for all and advancing the communities we serve.

This year:

  • The Credit Union Governance Act was signed into law! Every credit union bill signed by the president is a win for our members, and this bill allows credit unions to take additional actions to enhance safety.
  • We successfully kept the Credit Card Competition Act from moving forward, including preventing it from being attached to any must-pass, end-of-year legislation.
  • NCUA made a CUNA-requested update to its supervisory framework, providing relief to credit unions facing declining Net Economic Value supervisory test ratings.

You made these wins possible. Every meeting, every message sent, every point of contact with a policymaker helped make the case that our members deserve more.
