Dr. David Carrier joined NAFCU as Chief Economist and Director of Research in April 2012. He is responsible for overseeing NAFCU’s research division, which produces a number of publications and its numerous economic forecasts and surveys. ...
Prior to joining NAFCU, Dr. Carrier was the Chief Economist at the Appalachian Regional Commission where he worked on economic development strategies in rural underserved areas and developed ways to measure program impact. Carrier also taught economics at Washington State University in Vancouver and was the Senior Economist at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.
In addition, he has published several journal articles and is author of the 1997 book, Industrial Restructuring, Financial Instability, and the Dynamics of the Postwar U.S. Economy.
Dr. Carrier earned his Ph.D. in economics from Notre Dame and his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland.
He currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Northwest Cooperative Development Center.
