Steve Goldberg

Steve Goldberg is executive director of the CUNA Mutual Foundation & Community Relations for the CUNA Mutual Group. In this role he leads the company’s community involvement strategy. Goldberg began his career with CUNA Mutual Group in 1968, coordinating the company’s National Youth Involvement Program for ten years. From 1978 until 1985, Goldberg was executive director of the National Association for Retired Credit Union People, providing special services to senior and retired credit union members. From 1985 through 1989, he was vice president of CUNA Mutual Group’s financial planning network, a forerunner of the Members Financial Services program, which helps credit unions meet the investment and protection needs of their members. He then served as vice president of corporate quality from 1989 to 1999, where he was responsible for company-wide customer service and quality strategies. From 1999 through 2002, he was vice president of small credit union development, responsible for leading CUNA Mutual Group’s company wide small credit union strategy, designed to help smaller credit unions thrive. Goldberg’s community service has included a term on the board of directors of the United Way of Dane County, the Dane County Community Action Commission and the Dane County Social Planning Agency. In addition, he served as treasurer of Madison’s Family Service Agency and as a member of Summit Credit Union’s board of directors, chairing its marketing committee. He is founder and past president of the Madison Consumer Credit Counseling Service. He has served on the board of CUNA Brokerage and is a past president of the Insurance Consumer Affairs Exchange. He also served several years on the CCUE Board of Examiners, and is an active volunteer with United Way of Dane County. Goldberg holds a degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin, where he was an Evans Scholar. He was designated as a Certified Credit Union Executive (CCUE) by the Credit Union National Association in 1981.
