A new year is an new chance to improve upon yourself . . . right? Leadership can often make us think about ourselves as leaders. But without your team, you wouldn’t have anyone to lead. Here are three things you can try and improve upon as a team leader this year…
Don’t lose sight of any wins: It’s great to have a vision of the big picture, but you also need to remember the small wins that help you get to the finish line. Without those, it’ll be impossible to get to where you want to be. Remind your team of this often.
Let your team try new things: Innovation can come easy if your staff feels they have the ability to take a risk. Success often comes from a risky (even small ones) idea.
Encourage well: It probably wouldn’t take much effort to tell your employees everything they’re doing wrong. Feedback is a good thing, but don’t let it be a one-sided version. Start with what’s working and help your employees make improvements from there.
