Carolinas league, Local Government FCU recovering from downtown Raleigh fire

The Carolinas Credit Union League (CCUL) and Local Government FCU (LGFCU) have begun the long process of recovery following a fire in downtown Raleigh, N.C. that damaged the league’s offices.
The 15-story Quorum Center, which housed six floors of commercial tenants and 37 condominium units, underwent external heat damage along with water damage from the emergency sprinkler system due to the March 16 fire (CCUL Headlines March 23.)
Access to the building has been limited since the fire, but staff were given a brief opportunity this week to retrieve essential items. While the building is under repair, staff will continue to work remotely for the next couple of weeks then relocate to Coastal FCU’s headquarters in Raleigh. Service to credit unions in the Carolinas will remain uninterrupted, and all staff can be reached via email and phone.
“CCUL appreciates the dedication and bravery of the 130 firefighters, police, and other emergency personnel who risked their lives to battle the fire,” said John Radebaugh, CCUL president/CEO. “We also appreciate the outreach and support from the credit union community in the Carolinas and around the country, as well as local Raleigh businesses–the response has been overwhelming.”
