CUNA engaged with housing finance, cybersecurity hearings

With only the Senate in session this week, CUNA is engaged in a number of Congressional hearings this week, including one that will examine the status of the housing finance system. On Thursday, the Senate Banking Committee will conduct a hearing titled “The Status the Housing Finance System after 9 Years of Conservatorship.”

The hearing’s sole witness will be Mel Watt, director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency.

CUNA supports housing finance reform proposals to reform the secondary mortgage market that would ensure credit unions have equal access to a well-regulated and well-capitalized secondary market and preserve borrowers’ access to a variety of affordable mortgage products.

CUNA will send a letter for the record of the hearing, which will take place Thursday at 10 a.m. (ET).

CUNA is also engaged with a Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing titled “Cyber Threats Facing America: An Overview of the Cybersecurity Threat Landscape.”
