Department of Justice

CUNA leadership met with senior officials at the Department of Justice Tuesday to continue CUNA’s push to see guidance on how the Americans With Disabilities Act applies to websites. CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle, Chief Advocacy Officer Ryan Donovan, Chief Compliance Officer Jared Ihrig and Senior Director of Advocacy and Counsel Leah Dempsey, as well as CUNA Mutual Group Senior Consultant for Corporate and Legislative Affairs Joe Luedke, attended the meeting.

“Credit unions are seeing frivolous legal action due to a lack of clear requirements in this area, and today’s meeting was part of our ongoing efforts to see guidance credit unions can use to ensure they are in compliance,” said Nussle. “We thank the DOJ leaders for their time and attention, and we hope to see a solution forthcoming so credit unions can focus their resources on their members without threat of predatory legal action.”
