CUs back Amodei, others in Tuesday’s primaries

Credit unions around the country are once again active in Tuesday’s primary elections, which will take place in Maine, Nevada, North Dakota, South Carolina and Virginia. The main race CUNA is tracking is the primary election of Rep. Mark Amodei (R-Nev.), who has the support of the Nevada Credit Union League and CUNA.

CUNA worked with the Nevada league and three credit unions to conduct a partisan communication that targeted more than 15,000 credit union households. Amodei is being challenged in the primary by former state Sen. Sharron Angle.

Amodei, along with Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-Calif.) successfully introduced an amendment last year to keep NCUA out of the appropriations process. CUNA strongly disagrees with placing NCUA under appropriations, and an early financial services and general government appropriations bill would have done so.
