CUs expand offerings to gov’t workers as policymakers take note

Legislators around the country continue to send furloughed federal workers to local credit unions for financial assistance as the government shutdown continues.

Kevin Hassett, President Donald Trump’s chief economic adviser said on Fox Business Network’s After the Bell this week that people “should contact their supervisors in order to help them with the federal credit unions making low-interest loans and so on.”

Other legislators have tweeted information about local credit union resources for furloughed workers, including Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.), Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.), Rep. Mike Levin (D-Calif.), Rep. Grace Napolitano (D-Calif.) and Maryland State Rep. Jeff Waldstreicher (D).
