Gold rings, geese-a-laying are cost drivers

The good news this holiday season? Paying for all the gifts included in the Christmas classic the Twelve Days of Christmas is nearly unchanged in 2019 from 2018.

The Grinchish news? It still costs nearly $40,000.

The big cost increase drivers? The cost of gold rings and geese-a-laying.

For the 36th consecutive year PNC Financial Services has released its PNC Christmas Price Index that tabulates what it would cost today to purchase all of the gifts listed in the popular holiday song, from a partridge in a pear tree to drummers drumming.

According to PNC, the 2019 price tag for The PNC Christmas Price Index is $38,993.59, a negligible $67.56 or 0.2% more than last year’s cost, but less than the government’s Consumer Price Index, which increased 1.8% through October in year-over-year measurement before seasonal adjustment, the company reported.
