House passes TRACED Act to combat unwanted robocalls

The House voted Wednesday to pass the Telephone Robocall Abuse Criminal Enforcement and Deterrence (TRACED) Act, legislation designed to combat unwanted robocalls via the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.  Specifically, the TRACED Act is a bipartisan effort to pass legislation that addresses illegal robocalls and seeks to improve enforcement of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, while recognizing the need to provide recourse to those legitimate callers whose calls may be erroneously blocked as a result.

CUNA continues to engage Congress, the FCC, and the Courts on the need for additional clarity on the definition of an autodialer under the TCPA so that credit unions will not be placed in legal jeopardy when attempting to legitimately contact members.
