Life is busy, and there are a million responsibilities and distractions that take our time. When it comes to your career, you want to do whatever you can to make sure you’re staying on the right path. Here are three tips for staying focused on your goals…
Map it out: It’s easy to get lost. When you lose sight of where you’re going, you can easily end up on a dead-end road. Like opening up Waze when you get in the car, it helps to have a map that tells you how to get where you’re going. Take the time to review what you’ve written throughout the year and assess the situation. Maybe your goals have changed. If that’s the case, just tweak it and move on.
Connect and reconnect: Sometimes, career growth is about who you know. If there’s no room for growth in your current position, it’s time to start networking. Go to LinkedIn and start adding everyone you can think of. You’d be surprised how many people you know, and the bigger your network the better. You never know what kind of opportunities might come your way from an old connection you forgot you had.
Always dress like it’s your first day: One day you may cross paths with someone who could change your life. If you want that to be possible, you have to be prepared. You don’t have to be flashy, but look good. Make sure your wardrobe and hairstyle are up-to-date.
