How to be an inspirational leader

A great way to achieve success is to inspire. If your employees aren’t inspired, it will be a lot harder for them to achieve greatness. Here are three ways you can inspire your employees…

Reveal your vision: It’s nice to have a shared purpose with your team. Sometimes that purpose can get lost among the day-to-day responsibilities. Try to find time periodically to remind your employees of the bigger picture. It’s not just processing a loan application, it’s helping a family buy their first home. Everyone in the company has a role that’s vital to the success of the institution. Remind your employees of their value and how they contribute to making members’ dreams come true.

Show appreciation: Successful employees will make a company successful. Shower your employees with praise when they deserve it, and encourage those who are exuding great effort to be successful. Make sure they understand how their personal successes also impact the company. Be a champion for your employees and they will be a champion for your credit union.

Encourage innovation: No one knows your members better than your employees. If you want to be successful, you need to allow your employees to take what they’ve seen and heard from your members and use that information to come up with innovative solutions for your members.  You can’t do it alone. By relying on your team, you’re giving them the opportunity to grow the business and their careers.
