It’s so easy (to cause an IT security breach), even an examiner could do it!

A client forwarded an article to me about an NCUA Examiner losing an extrernal flash drive during an exam that contained the names, addresses, Social Security Numbers, and account numbers of members of a California Credit Union.  The examiner lost the flash drive! Ouch!  (View article NCUA Examiner Blamed for Data Breach)

The comment by our client was “All the more reason for stopping data download unauthorized by controls set in the network.”  I could not agree more!

Twice I had to assist a credit union whose data was compromised when their examiner’s laptop was stolen from a restaurant!

If an examiner can download such sensitive data and then lose the flashdrive (or their laptop), you can bet that anyone on your staff could do the same.  It is time to consider a service such as what we use – Device Control from Kaspersky Labs.

Using Device Control enables the administrator to monitor various devices in the corporate network and, if necessary, prohibit using some of them. View the video to learn more.
