Kraninger resigns as CFPB director

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Director Kathy Kraninger and resigned her position Wednesday. Kraninger served as director since December 2018.

“We thank Director Kraninger for her service leading the CFPB and her willingness to engage with the credit union perspective while leading the Bureau,” said CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle. “The work she led at the Bureau greatly helped credit unions fulfill their mission and improve the financial well-being of their members.”

While CUNA supports the nomination process, it continues to advocate for a bipartisan, multi-member commission to lead the CFPB.

The Biden transition team announced over the weekend that Rohit Chopra, who formerly served at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), would be nominated to lead the CFPB.
