NAFCU engaged as Congress races to fund the government

With current funding for federal government agencies and offices set to expire Friday, NAFCU lobbyists are monitoring Congress’ efforts to allocate funds to agencies and projects.

The House and Senate reached a deal last month to fund the federal government for two years, but funds must still be appropriated to their respective purposes.

The House is currently working out details of the omnibus spending bill; representatives are expected to vote on the measure tomorrow. The Senate would then need to pass the bill Friday and have it signed by the president before midnight to avert a government shutdown.

There have been two shutdowns already this year: the first shutdown lasted three days, the second lasted only a few hours.
