New ATMs grab the eye…and more users?

Most people know what an ATM looks like. Generally, they are the boxy grey machines at the credit union or retailer. The overall look of the ATM has barely changed in the past decade. This very fact is why so many credit unions have discovered success with branding programs. Changing the look and feel of the ATM into something less expected…complete with the credit union brand calls attention to the machine, increasing brand awareness and transactions.

Now ATM manufacturers Nautilus Hyosung and Triton have taken steps to push that idea even further with new and innovatively designed ATMs. Hyosung’s new Halo and Triton’s ARGO lines don’t completely eliminate the box look of your average automated teller machine but they are certainly more eye-catching.

The Triton ARGO has a minimum 7” high definition touch screen and a cleaner design, providing a much brighter interface with a sleeker, new-age look that will turn more heads than older models. ARGO’s body is more likely to garner attention from retail and off-premise users as well. It also has some features that could make it more attractive to credit unions…including EMV readiness, NFC capability and a printer-less e-Receipt option.

Nautilus Hyosung’s Halo also provides an HD interface via a 10″ screen, though this model is not operated by touch. The Halo also offers an optional high-gloss finish but the real draw is the circle of illumination surrounding a recessed keypad at the center of the machine. This “halo” is designed to grab the eye through a constantly changing spectrum of colors. Like the ARGO, Hyosung’s Halo also provides some features that are tailored to the financial institutions such as EMV readiness, a digital receipt option and full backwards parts compatibility with the NH-1800 model.

These two designs from top ATM manufacturers are sure to be attention grabbers (and potentially transaction generators) on their own. However, credit unions looking to really garner some brand awareness can capitalize on their unique looks while they are still the newest…and coolest…ATMs around.
