Nussle calls for S. 2155 momentum as vote approaches

CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle urged credit unions to keep up the momentum of support for the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief and Consumer Protection Act (S. 2155) Wednesday, as House members indicated it could be headed to the floor soon. Nussle and CUNA Chief Advocacy Officer Ryan Donovan were among CUNA staff that met with conservative-leaning House Democrats Wednesday morning, and CUNA issued an action alert to more than 60,000 credit union leaders Wednesday as well.

“Now’s the time to reach out to your member of Congress and make your voice heard,” Nussle said. “The benefits of passing this bipartisan, common-sense legislation is a no-brainer for credit unions: it will protect seniors from elder financial abuse, make mortgage processing easier and quicker, increase affordable rental housing in our communities and help credit unions provide better service to their members. Credit union leaders, staff, volunteers, members, we need all of them fully engaged heading into this crucial vote.

Credit unions can use CUNA’s Campaign for Common-Sense Regulation website to contact their member of Congress to support S. 2155.
