Jacksonville, Fla.; April 9, 2012 – 121 Financial Credit Union assisted St. Johns County, Florida’s Durbin Creek Elementary School in celebrating Space Night before 1,500 people at its Parent/Teachers Organization meeting.
The event was designed to educate the children and parents as to what NASA has developed through the years that are now used in people’s everyday lives. Activities included laser shows, a walk-in globe, glow-in-the-dark rooms, educational booths and telescopes set up by the local astronomy club.
121 Financial’s Marketing Vice President, Cindy Breslin, dressed in a NASA suit owned by her sister, who worked for NASA and described her sister’s duties with the space agency.
The credit union offered a cash donation to Durbin Creek with each credit union membership opened by a parent. 121 Financial also gave the kids license plates for their bikes, 121 backpacks, koozies, pens, pencils and zip bags, in addition to items from NASA.
