14 credit union-friendly candidates win races Tuesday
WASHINGTON, DC (August 10, 2022) — Fourteen credit union-friendly candidates added 14 wins in Connecticut, Minnesota, Vermont and Wisconsin Tuesday. Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC) and state leagues have backed 274 credit union proponents this cycle with a 97% success rate.
In Vermont, Democrat Sen. Becca Balint won her primary for the At-large District with support from CULAC and the Association of Vermont Credit Unions. If elected, she will be Vermont’s first woman elected to Congress.
In Minnesota, CULAC and Minnesota Credit Union Network backed Republican former state Rep. Brad Finstad, who won the special election to replace the late Rep. Jim Hagedorn, R-01. Finstad, who will fill the seat for the remainder of this Congress, also won the Republican primary to be on the November ballot.
CULAC is backing former state Sen. Jill Tokuda, D-02, for the upcoming open seat primary in partnership with the Hawaii Credit Union League Saturday, August 13.
CULAC is one of the five largest trade association PACs and among the most bipartisan PACs in the country. CULAC works with state leagues to identify, vet, and back congressional candidates who support credit unions and the CUNA-League system’s efforts to promote financial well-being for all.
