(YORKTOWN, Va.) – In honor of its 60th Anniversary, 1st Advantage Federal Credit Union is donating $60,000 to six organizations that make a positive impact to people in our community. The organizations are Habitat for Humanity; Operation Homefront; The Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula; Relay for Life; Boys and Girls Club and Fisher House Foundation.
However, 1A is not making the decision alone. Members will be given the chance to help the credit union decide how the money will be distributed. 1st Advantage believes this is a great call to action for members to partner with 1A and help make lasting contributions to the community.
As a not-for-profit financial co-operative, 1st Advantage takes great pride in assisting fellow organizations that help those in need. Since the credit union was founded in 1951, 1A has always gone the extra mile to aid the community through volunteer work, donations and scholarships.
“Our $60,000 donation is a fantastic opportunity for 1A to help raise the overall level of social and economic well-being of those in our community, help strengthen ties within the community and better position us to reach out and serve,” says CEO Casey Duplantier. 1st Advantage can’t think of a better way to celebrate our 60 years of service than giving back to our community. It’s who we are as a credit union and it’s part of our philosophy “Life. Shared.”
