1st United Credit Union announces restructure & executive promotions
PLEASANTON, CA (December 9, 2020) — 1st United Credit Union, a Pleasanton-based not-for-profit financial institution serving five counties, announced a restructuring of Credit Union operations and the appointment of two new chief officers.
“The financial services industry continues to evolve and has become an extremely competitive space,” commented Steve Stone, President and Chief Executive Officer for 1st United Credit Union. “Restructuring our teams to align better with our members’ needs will contribute to greater success.”
Restructure highlights include consolidation of all retail operations under one umbrella, overseen by the newly-appointed Chief Retail Officer, Derrick Fortier. Mr. Fortier has been with 1st United for over two years and brings over 30 years of financial services, member experience, and retail operations to the position. Consolidating branch operations, member contact center, and digital banking will enable better cohesion to create a superior member experience through front-line touchpoints.
The Lending and Marketing departments have aligned under the Chief Lending and Marketing Officer, Tosha Eagles-Williams. With rates at all-time lows, competition for attracting lending balances is higher than ever. The strategic decision to align Lending and Marketing will be critical to the Credit Union’s long-term success.
Finally, the Credit Union is pleased to announce the appointment of Lynell Fraley as Chief Human Resources Officer. Ms. Fraley has been with the Credit Union for almost eight years and brings extensive employee relations experience. She will be leading the Human Resources, Staff Development, and Compliance departments.
In addition to a Credit Union restructure, 1st United is in the midst of a core system and online banking conversion which will improve efficiencies and allow better support of innovative products. “These structural changes, along with the new core and online banking systems, will better position 1st United to evolve with the industry and to grow and remain strong,” continued Mr. Stone.
