2010 Scholarship Contest Winners Announced

Bridgewater, NJ – Financial Resources Federal Credit Union announced that its Foundation, Financial Resources FCU Foundation, Inc., awarded three scholarships in the credit union’s annual Scholarship Contest.  This year’s contest asked entrants to complete an essay, in 500 words or less, on the following: “The phrase ‘global community’ is bandied about with increasing frequency. What do you think it really means and how can you be a responsible member of this community?”” The Scholarship Contest rules were published in the spring and summer issues of the credit union’s quarterly member newsletter, Financial Forum.  A panel of credit union and non-affiliated judges determined the winners from over 50 entries.

  • Winning the First Place, $2,000, Diana Li, Lansdale, PA
  • Winning the Second Place, $1,000, Steven Feldman, Hillsborough, NJ
  • Winning the Third Place, $500, Alyssa Le, Hillsborough, NJ

Lena Matthews, Chairman of the Foundation and President & CEO of the Credit Union said, “Our essay winners did an excellent job conveying their thoughts and ideas on ways to be responsible members of the ‘global community’ and I commend the work done on these well-written essays.”

Financial Resources FCU members under age 22 who are current college students or recent high school graduates and can show proof that they are registered for 12 credits or more at an accredited university, college or school, were eligible to submit an entry for the Annual Scholarship Contest.
