2016 John Garrison Scholarship Award winners announced

DEER PARK, TX (June 21, 2016) — Shell Federal Credit Union extends the John Garrison Scholarship Award to graduating high school seniors each year. Recipients are selected based upon academic performance, communal involvement, extracurricular activities, and response to the application essay. The topic for this year’s essay asked applicants to explain the difference between a bank and a credit union, as well as why a young adult would use a credit union over a bank for their financial needs.

More than 70 applications were submitted for the John Garrison Scholarship this year from 29 different high schools throughout Harris County. Ten deserving high school seniors were selected as recipients for the 2016 John Garrison Scholarship award; each of the ten students will be awarded $2,500 to the college, university or vocational-technical school of choice. Below is a list of the 2016 selected scholarship recipients and the college of their choice for Fall 2016.
