2021 James E. Fetterolf Distinguished Service Award
KALAMAZOO, MI (March 17, 2021) —
Arbor Financial Credit Union held their 86th Annual Meeting on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. The credit union’s Board of Directors presented the 2021 James E. Fetterolf Distinguished Service Award to a very special individual for her outstanding credit union service. We are pleased to announce that this year’s
award recipient is Arlene Horton!
Arlene’s leadership, compassion, and ability to inspire employees has contributed to Arbor Financials success in recruiting talent who support Arbor’s Core Values: Work Together; Do The Right Thing; and Have Fun.
In 1989, Arlene joined our organization when it was School Employees Credit Union as a Product Development Supervisor and Trainer. Arlene was promoted throughout her career at Arbor Financial to Human Resources and Training Manager, and then again in 2003 to her current role of Vice President of Talent Strategy and Organizational Culture, where she oversees the hiring, training, salary and benefits administration, and culture initiatives. As a member of the Executive Team, she assists in guiding the strategic direction of the credit union. She has also helped Arbor Financial to repeatedly be recognized as one of the Best and Brightest Places to Work in West Michigan and Nationally.
A Benton Harbor native, Arlene attended Lake Michigan College and worked for Whirlpool Employees Federal Credit Union, now United Federal Credit Union, for 15 years prior to joining Arbor Financial. Arlene is a member of various Human Resources organizations and served as a former certified trainer for the Michigan Credit Union League for credit union staff, and board educational seminars throughout Michigan, leading the STAR and Board of Director Courses. Arlene and her husband, Richard, reside in Mattawan where they are close to their children and grandchildren.
Our Board of Directors, management, and staff highly regard Arlene and greatly appreciate her dedication to the credit union. We honor Arlene because she fully exemplifies the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People.”
