Neighbors FCU partners with TEDx Baton Rouge for inaugural event

Neighbors Federal Credit Union recently served as a visionary partner and premier sponsor for TEDx Baton Rouge’s inaugural event held at Manship Theatre on Thursday, September 14th, 2023.

The event, themed 'Think Again,' was held in part of the TEDx series which highlights knowledge and ideas in communities across the country - encouraging people to think differently. The TED (technology, entertainment, and design) company regularly posts videos and livestreams of professional speakers talking about new, developing ideas around the world. More than 3,000 TEDx events are held annually in communities around the globe. While they are organized independently of TED, they follow the organization’s speaker guidelines and its mission to disseminate “ideas worth spreading.”

This partnership with TEDx Baton Rouge promotes innovation and lifts new ideas that will enrich our local community. While Neighbors has grown to be one of the largest credit unions in the state, our focus has remained being a dynamic financial institution that serves our membership.

“There is a duality that exists in the work that we do as a financial institution – our services are an essential part of people’s daily lives and within those interactions we form trusted relationships with our members.” Said Neighbors’ Community Outreach Coordinator, Betty Mujica-Milano. “However, we often ask ourselves how do we take that relationship a step further? To show that the relationships we have built are meaningful and worth investing in. That’s when we “think again” and build programs such as Project Grants for Public Schools and Neighbors Day, to capitalize on that trust and give back to our community.”
