5Point Credit Union partners with Dream Publishing to support students and educators in Southeast Texas

5Point Credit Union to distribute co-branded copies of Start Young and Build Freedom to teens and families to support financial education across Southeast Texas.

NEDERLAND, TX (July 8, 2026) |

Dream Publishing, the publisher of Start Young and Build Freedom, today announced a partnership with 5Point Credit Union, the Nederland, Texas-based credit union serving more than 58,000 members across Southeast Texas and North Houston. The partnership will bring co-branded copies of the book to teens and families throughout the credit union’s community footprint, providing a practical, story-driven guide to entrepreneurship and financial independence.

Founded in 1935 to serve the workers of The Texas Company, 5Point has grown into one of the largest not-for-profit financial cooperatives in Southeast Texas, with nine locations across the Golden Triangle and North Houston

. The credit union’s motto – “You belong here” – reflects its commitment to providing financial opportunities to the families it serves.

That commitment shows up across 5Point's work, from its scholarships for student members to its support of local schools and organizations across the region. The partnership with Dream Publishing extends that work into the hands of young people throughout the community.

“Empowering youth and teens with financial knowledge today helps to build a strong foundation for tomorrow’s leaders. We’re investing in our next generation by providing them with the tools to form healthy financial habits,” said Erik Shaw, President/CEO, 5Point Credit Union. “Start Young and Build Freedom tells a real story that connects with teens.”

Start Young and Build Freedom follows author Simon Komlos from struggling student to entrepreneur and co-founder of Zogo, the financial literacy app that partnered with more than 250 credit unions and reached two million users. Designed in the style of Diary of a Wimpy Kid and informed by a clinical psychologist specializing in stress and resilience, the book uses entrepreneurship as a vehicle for financial education. It is aligned with the Jump$tart Coalition National Standards for Personal Financial Education.

“5Point has been serving its community since 1935, and when you talk to their team you can feel that history in how seriously they take financial education,” said Simon Komlos, author and founder of Dream Publishing. “Having them as our first partner in our home state means a lot.”
