A milestone to re-member: Unitus CCU reaches 100,000 members

Portland-based Credit Union eclipses 100,000 members, positioned for continued growth

PORTLAND, OR (September 4, 2020) — Unitus Community Credit Union ($1.5 billion in assets) recently welcomed their 100,000th member to the credit union.

“This is an exciting achievement for us, as it demonstrates that more people are appreciating the unique advantages of credit union membership,” says Unitus CEO Steve Stapp. “It reflects the dedication that our employees, Leadership Team, and Board of Directors bring every day to improve life for all of us in our diverse community.”

The credit union plans to celebrate the milestone with their members in several ways, featuring an interactive video contest for members, as well as a series of gift-card giveaways. More information can be found on their Facebook and Instagram feeds.

“This achievement reinforces our commitment to inspire hope as we navigate through life’s defining moments,” said Chief Experience Officer Scott Bell. “Members have increasingly been joining Unitus for our leading mobile and digital banking options. We are especially proud that, even during these trying times, Unitus has helped a record number of families realize the dream of home ownership. Our Virtual Branch is our latest tool helping us meet the members wherever they are, improving our ability to provide that high-touch, personal experience that sets Unitus apart.”

Unitus’ concerted effort to invest in digital technology in recent years has paid dividends. Their mobile app is currently outperforming that of many other financial institutions, sporting an average rating of 4.8 on the Apple App Store and 4.7 on the Google Play store across more than 9,000 reviews. Additionally, those interested in joining Unitus can now open a checking account within minutes, all online. Unitus has received more than 160 five-star reviews so far this year.

“This is a testament to our ability to inspire members to tell their friends and family how much they love and trust Unitus,” said Stapp. “The member is at the heart of everything we do each day. Our employees are empowered to invest emotionally in our members, and that supportive attitude makes a difference in people’s lives. We try to make a habit of surprising and delighting our members. That’s the Unitus difference.”
