Abound expands WKU personal finance summer camp partnership, celebrates successful 2023 program

RADCLIFF, KY (July 6, 2023) — Abound Credit Union is the Title Sponsor and co-organizer of the Western Kentucky University Personal Finance Summer Camp, which recently concluded its 2nd successful year. This unique event allows high school students to become fully immersed in personal finance and financial literacy topics while staying on campus at Western Kentucky University (WKU) for a week during the summer.

Thanks to a multi-year sponsorship with Abound Credit Union, WKU’s Center for Financial Success (CFS) hosted 35 students for its 2023 Personal Finance Summer Camp from June 25 – June 29. Rising 10th-grade through 12th-grade students from across Kentucky spent part of their summer experiencing life on the Hill and learning about personal finance. The 2023 Personal Finance Summer ended with a Closing Awards Ceremony on June 29th that featured guest speaker Abound CEO, Ray Springsteen.
“Abound is proud to support WKU’s Personal Finance Summer Camp and help young adults learn to make smart financial decisions that will positively impact the rest of their lives,” said Ray Springsteen, President & CEO of Abound Credit Union. “Helping Kentuckians live better is a primary focus at Abound. The Credit Union invests in financial education programs from elementary school children to adults. WKU’s Personal Finance Camp is a great way to help young Kentuckians learn basic personal finance principles and lead better lives.”
Abound Credit Union joined forces with the WKU Center for Financial Success in 2022 and expanded that partnership further after seeing the impact created by the camp. This year, the Credit Union committed to a 3-year sponsorship totaling $75,000 to help deliver these crucial skills to students. Abound believes deeply in financial education and is committed to guiding young adults on their personal finance journey to help them start their lives on a solid financial footing and make smart financial decisions. The multi-year sponsorship provides critical scholarships for attendees, off-sets camp costs, and expands the summer camp’s programming.
