Abound, SBDC help local veterans cultivate entrepreneurial skills

Abound Credit Union and the Kentucky Small Business Development Center (SBDC) hosted their seventh annual Veteran 2 Entrepreneur workshop last month at the General George Patton Museum in Ft. Knox, Kentucky.

This event was developed to help area veterans cultivate their entrepreneurial skills as they transition to small business ownership after leaving military service. Speakers included Colonel Lance O’Bryan, Garrison Commander, U.S. Army Fort Knox; Ray Springsteen, President/CEO of Abound Credit Union; Jim Iacocca, President/CEO, Knox Regional Development Alliance; Chris Cruise, Owner and Founder of Cruise Custom Flags; and Grant Simpson, Director of Commercial Lending for Abound Credit Union.

Participants at this year’s event learned from successful veteran small business owners, resource partners and experts. In addition, attendees enjoyed expanded networking opportunities this year with new resource tables. Representatives from the SBA, SBDC, USA Cares, Abound, and successful veteran business owners were active on-site to speak one-on-one with veterans after the formal presentations concluded.
