Achieva joins nationwide branch-sharing network

Locations across the country can now serve Achieva members

DUNEDIN, FL (May 31, 2016) — Members of Achieva Credit Union will soon be able to walk into branches of other credit union organizations across the country to conduct their banking much as they would at an Achieva branch in the Tampa Bay region.

Locally owned and locally controlled Achieva is joining the Co-Op network of credit unions nationwide, offering Achieva members “Shared Branching” access to more than 5,000 credit union branches for a wide range of the most common transactions:

  • Deposits, withdrawals and transfers
  • Loan payments and loan advances
  • Printed statements
  • Credit card advances
  • Official cashier’s checks
  • Money orders, coin counting and notarization of documents

“Shared branching like this gives our local credit union a reach that extends coast to coast,” said Achieva Chief Executive Officer Gary Regoli. “Our members will now have access to more branches than some of the largest for-profit bank brands in the world.”

Joining the Co-Op network allows Achieva to vastly expand its reach, and offer a new, enhanced service to members. For instance, an Achieva member who lives in Ft. Myers during the winter could walk into a branch by their home in Michigan in the summer and withdraw funds without paying a fee, or draft a money order at a Co-Op branch in New York or San Francisco while on vacation.

For members, the new cooperation project allows them to avoid fees for the most common transactions, and provides them a physical branch for services, and the personal service that many members appreciate. As the Co-Op network grows with more credit unions joining the ranks, those locations will then become accessible to Achieva members.

The project is another example of how Achieva has been an innovator in financial services, for instance acquiring traditional bank branches to expand access for new members. Achieva is among the first wave of financial institutions to deploy new credit and debit cards with EMV “chip card” technology for more secure transactions.

Achieva now offers the Apple Pay service, allowing members to make purchases via their iPhones and Apple iWatches. This month, the community-minded credit union won the No. 1 spot in the Tampa Bay Times ranking of “Top 100 Workplaces.”
