ACUMA plans in-person conference in September 2021

With Covid-19 Restrictions Easing, Event near Washington, D.C., Planned for Sept. 12-15

The American Credit Union Mortgage Association will reconvene for its annual conference in-person in September, ACUMA President Tracy Ashfield announced.

The non-profit association will hold the Sept. 12-15 event at the Gaylord National Resort along the Potomac River near Washington, D.C. Dubbed “LIVE WIRE! 25” in honor of its 25th anniversary, the conference will emphasize ACUMA’s core values of networking and education for its membership of mortgage-lending credit union leaders.

“We’re really excited to be able to meet in-person again,” Ashfield said. “We’ve developed an extensive series of virtual events since the pandemic began, but there’s nothing like face-to-face meetings, and our conference has always provided the best opportunities for our members to get what they need.”

ACUMA will adhere to safety requirements for the event for all attendees, guests, exhibitors, speakers and staff. “Safety remains utmost in our minds,” noted Ashfield.

ACUMA will work with the hotel to safely provide space for meetings, food and beverage events, and the exhibition hall. Registration for credit union and affiliate members will be limited to assure social distancing standards are met. (Complete safety information will be shared once registration opens; protocols may change based on federal and state requirements and CDC guidance.)

REGISTRATION TO OPEN IN JUNE

Conference registration is expected to open in June with Optimal Blue, an industry leader in secondary marketing automation (now part of Black Knight), as the event’s Megawatt (primary) sponsor.

To ensure that as many credit unions and affiliates as possible can attend, limits will be placed on registrations. Those limits will be announced when safety protocols are finalized and before registration opens. A waiting list will also be established.

“We are proceeding carefully and safely,” Ashfield said of conference planning. “We understand that limits may be a challenge, but it’s the best way to give the most people a chance to experience the conference.”

Ashfield also noted that many organizations have travel restrictions in place through at least the end of the year, adding, “I hope those who cannot attend this year will return in 2022.”
