EAST CHICAGO, IN (July 3, 2023) — Advance Financial Federal Credit Union (AFFCU) is a strong supporter of the communities it serves and believes in the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People.” Recently, AFFCU demonstrated this commitment as it awarded a $2,000 college scholarship to Madeline Schmidt.  Madeline was chosen as this year’s recipient from a list of several highly qualified candidates.

Madeline was recently recognized at AFFCU’s 85th Annual Meeting by Chairperson Janice Vamos for her academic and community accomplishments.  “Madeline is a well-rounded student who has not only achieved an outstanding academic record as a National Honors Society recipient, but devotes time to community and church functions such as 4-H, Health Mentor Ambassador, Red Cross Driver, Vacation Bible School and Project Neighbors,” commented Vamos.  She added, “she is an individual who has a passion to help people and we believe she will make an impact on our world.  We are pleased to provide her with financial assistance to help her on her journey.”
