Advancial Awards Scholarships to Three Dinero Teens Members
Advancial Federal Credit Union awarded scholarships in the amounts of $5,000, $2,000 and $1,000 to three Dinero Teens members. Dinero Teens is a financial program designed for Advancial members ages 13 to 18.
“We received a great deal of interest in this year’s Scholarship Contest,” said Jenny Allen, Director of Marketing. “We really appreciate the hard work and creativity that so many Dinero Teens contributed to their entries.”
Dinero Teens were asked to create a budget for their first year of college and explain why a budget is important to them. The top three Dinero Scholarship winners were voted by Advancial employees. Applicants were judged on academic achievement and the content, organization, clarity and creativity of the budget project submitted. Advancial received many scholarship entries, ranging in submission vehicles from a song to PowerPoint presentations.
The first place winner of the contest was David Seitz from Dallas, TX. David submitted an essay and provided an extremely detailed budget with funds allocated for travel and even extra long sheets for his dorm room. Catherine Rayner from Plano, TX earned the second place spot with her song submission. Catherine wrote and sung a melody called No Fear Budget, adapted from Jason Mraz’s I’m Yours. Adam Smith from Houston, TX took the third place position with a story about the Money Musketeers (Advancial’s youth financial education program) mascot, D’Art, graduating from high school and learning how to make a budget.
