AFFCU awards scholarships to high school students

SAN ANTONIO, TX (April 22, 2021) — Air Force Federal Credit Union (AFFCU) awarded five high school students the AFFCU memorial scholarships at the 68th Annual Membership Meeting on Saturday, March 20, 2021.

Scholarships in the amount of $5,000 each were presented to the quintet of deserving high school seniors. Ms. Sophia Mendoza dela Cruz, Helotes, TX was designated the SMSgt George H. Einfeldt Memorial Scholarship; Mr. Stephen John Mullen, San Antonio, TX was granted the MSgt Warren D. Vail, Sr. Memorial Scholarship; Ms. Jennifer Marie Tharp, San Antonio, TX was awarded the CMSgt James C. Kemple Memorial Scholarship; Ms. Emma Elizabeth Jachimowicz, Schertz, TX received the CMSgt Ronald R. Applegate Memorial Scholarship and Ms. Harley Sue Guerrero, San Antonio, TX the AFFCU Founders’ Scholarship.

“We’re proud to provide each of these students an AFFCU scholarship,” said Ryan Ross, President/CEO of AFFCU. “Each of our recipients has demonstrated high academic achievement, outstanding community service and exceptional leadership, and we could not be more excited to see each one achieve their dreams and goals as they further their academic journey.”

The AFFCU scholarship program was established for members and their families to financially assist accomplished high school seniors for their academic achievements, character, family support and community service. In support of the credit union motto of “People Helping People,” AFFCU has increased the scholarship amount distributed in 2021 to $25,000.00.
