Affiliates Management Company announces hiring of General Counsel Michelle Barker

DES MOINES, IA (April 13, 2016) — Affiliates Management Company (AMC), the holding company of the Iowa Credit Union League (ICUL), is pleased to announce that Michelle Barker has joined the family of companies as General Counsel.

In this position, Barker will oversee the legal department and provide executive legal counsel for strategic business and operational matters for AMC and its family of companies which includes Coopera, PolicyWorks, TMG, TMG Financial Services and the Iowa Credit Union Foundation. As a key member of AMC’s management team, she will partner with her fellow executives to provide counsel on a broad variety of legal and strategic matters related to clients, owners, partners and internal operations.

Prior to joining AMC, Barker was Assistant Vice President and Senior Counsel of Lincoln Financial Group, where she worked for the past three and half years. Previously, she was VP and General Counsel of American Enterprise Group/American Republic Insurance, a diversified mutual insurance company based in Des Moines, where she worked in various leadership positions within their legal team over eight years. Prior to her time at American Republic, Michelle spent eight years as an attorney/partner at a small private practice in Des Moines.

She holds her Juris Doctorate with distinction and BA from the University of Iowa. Michelle, her husband and son are returning to Des Moines after currently residing in Omaha.
