DES MOINES, IA (January 30, 2015) – Affinity Credit Union has worked with children’s charities for over 20 years. In 2014 the credit union supported the efforts of Children’s Cancer Connection to bring comfort to families affected by pediatric cancer. On January 28, Affinity was proud to give a donation of $28,500 to Children’s Cancer Connection. The money was raised from an annual golf outing, bake sales, jean days, member donations, plus other various fundraisers.
The donation will be used for support groups for parents, siblings, teens and young adults, oncology and sibling summer camps, survivorship services, scholarships, and various resource and education materials. Jason Crooks, CEO of Affinity, said, “The services Children’s Cancer Connection provides to families dealing with childhood cancer are invaluable, and we are pleased to be able to help them in their efforts. The funds raised are really due to the efforts of our members and employees.”
