Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union celebrated its new Grand Rapids branch with a grand opening Wednesday, Dec. 5.
The new credit union is located at 2120 SE 2nd Ave. The new building features a “next-generation” design inside and out, with two drive-thru lanes and two deposit-taking drive-up ATMs.
The branch has permanently relocated from its previous location at 1200 S. Pokegama Ave. The credit union will continue to operate its east community branch at 535 E. Highway 2, as a designated drive-thru facility. Affinity Plus has been in that Grand Rapids location for the past 25 years.
‘GOOD THINGS COME’
During the grand opening ceremony, Dave Larson, Affinity Plus President/CEO, said that “sometimes good things come to those who wait, and I think that would be true here. To our members – thank you for your patience with having this become a reality.”
The branch has been open for a few weeks prior to the grand opening so employees could familiarize themselves with the beautiful, light-filled new setting, noted Branch Manager Ann Mack.
“We just want everyone to enjoy their new branch like we’ve been enjoying it for the first two weeks. We’re breaking it in proud today,” Mack said.
During the brief ceremony, Dale Adams, Grand Rapids mayor, thanked Affinity Plus for its community commitment.
“We know you’re going to be here for the long term and that you are the type of business partner that we could only dream of when it comes to being involved in the city of Grand Rapids,” Adams said.
